Modern Meat, an award-winning alternative protein company operated by an all-female team in Vancouver and specializing in plant-based meats, including vegan crabcakes, reports online and retail sales have been booming since the start of the pandemic .

Founder and CEO Tara Haddad says she embarked on the project to create authentic meat alternatives made from whole food ingredients that consumers can pronounce and understand, noting that some food technology companies have been criticized by health experts for composing their products in the laboratory with scientists. .

Tara says she has partnered with some of the best chefs in Canada to create healthy gourmet foods with ingredients that can be found in any grocery store, and cites this as the number one reason for the success of her business, while consumers are becoming more health and ingredient conscious since COVID.

During the pandemic, Modern Meat partnered with PlantX, a vegan lifestyle platform, to deliver pre-made vegan meals created by the chefs of Modern Meat directly to consumers’ homes. Modern Meat’s product portfolio includes Modern Burger, Crumble, Meatballs, “Crab” Cakes, Protein Strips and several vegan sauces. The company says its goal is to introduce new products to its line every quarter throughout the year.
