The organization’s ninth annual Vegan Food Awards praised Heck for their new vegan breakfast sausages, made with mushrooms, oven-roasted tomatoes and herbs.
The family business’s growing plant-based lineup also includes Ultimate Vegan Burger and Vegfurter hot dogs – available in supermarkets nationwide.
PETA’s Dawn Carr said, “Vegan choices are so popular that they’re landing on the menus of the biggest chains and flying off the shelves of every supermarket.”
“Heck is making it easier for North Yorkshire dwellers and locals to go vegan than ever by offering tasty and satisfying vegan sausages. ”
Another North Yorkshire company was also honored in the awards, with York-based VFC being named the winner for Best Vegan Chicken – stealing the crown from global chain KFC.

VFC was co-founded by Chef Adam Lyons and Matthew Glover who said, “Our mission is to save bird life by making tasty food that doesn’t cost a wing or a leg, and this award shows us that We are on the right path.
“We know KFC won that same award last year, but you can let the Colonel know we can take it from here.”
