The Maine Vegan Food Truck will open a restaurant in Gorham

If you grew up in Gorham, Maine, particularly in the 1980s and 1990s, you know there were two ice cream options. Whether it’s after school or little league, your destination for treats would be Chez Beal on Route 25 or Sweets ‘n Eats on Route 202.

Unfortunately, Sweets ‘m Eats fell on hard times and closed a few years ago. The building has been occupied by a few other things since, including The Sweet Life, but has now been vacant for some time.

However, there is new excitement as a tenant has announced a brand new business for the location.

Curbside comfort, a successful local food truck, announced on social media that the company was moving to a physical store. They will take over the former Sweet Life spot at 680 Gray Road (Route 202).

The veteran and female owned store will be an entirely new concept for the location and the city for that matter. Curbside Comforts is a plant-based restaurant, specializing in vegan cuisine. The menu includes vegan versions of some of the most popular comfort foods, including burgers, fried chicken patties, and mac and cheese.

Curbside Comforts will also be offering plenty of treats, including candy bars and other delicious treats. And, yes, they will also be vegan.

According to his Facebook page, Curbside Comfort first opened the food truck in the spring of 2021. It’s been a meteoric rise for the company, considering they’re already in the process of transitioning to a brick-and-mortar one. However, it certainly feels like it will be Gorham’s payoff.

This exciting new business is expected to open in May. Judging by the reaction on social media, it looks like the community is ready for Curbside Comfort’s arrival.
