The way we shop has changed. We no longer just go to the store when we have a thing or two, we shelter in place and minimize visits to the grocery store. When we finally do our shopping, we need to maintain a safe distance. There are limits to what we can buy and how many of us can be in a store at a time. Trident Seafoods was so inspired by the curbside pickup strategies of many local restaurants that they came up with their own. They turned their Pop Up Fish Shop Seafood Truck into a touchless, driving mobile seafood shopping experience. Now you can buy delicious, nutritious and affordable seafood while respecting social distancing. Simply order and pre-pay online, then pick up and collect from the contactless drive-thru service.

The Pop Up Fish Shop comes to Bellingham every Thursday from noon to 5:00 p.m. Check their website for the locations where the truck travels each week, then look for the big red truck.

Trident Seafoods created The Pop Up Fish Shop in addition to its food truck, The Fork & Fin. Since The Fork & Fin is currently banned from serving food to the public, Director Lo Reichert and his team have fed frontline healthcare workers in appreciation of these pandemic heroes.

Their Bellingham facility is manned year round as a frozen fish portioning and value added plant. During the summer and fall in Puget Sound, also known as salmon season, the plant expands operations to include the primary processing of wild salmon caught by a fleet of tribal and non-tribal vessels. independent targets targeting sockeye, pink and chum salmon.

Many of these fish are processed and sold fresh in local markets, while others are made into various forms of frozen products. The plant employs approximately 140 full-time workers on its value-added lines, plus an additional 100 seasonal workers during the “fresh” salmon season.
