Our 2022 Vegan food and life The Reader Awards are here to celebrate the best of newcomers, as well as favorites that have been around for a bit longer.

Companies have continued to tap into the plant-based pound over the past 12 months, with many exciting new options hitting restaurant shelves and menus.

After asking you to vote for your top vegan picks, we’re excited to share the results.

Best Milk Alternative Brand

The plant-based milk industry has long offered some of the most exciting vegan innovations.

With drinks now made with oats, soy, peas, potatoes, rice and more, there’s something for everyone.

Winner: Oatley

There were only 14 votes between winner and highly commended in this category this year, but Oatly just won’t be knocked out of first place!

Oatly burst onto the UK scene several years ago and have remained a favorite ever since.

The Swedish brand offers a tasty range of milk alternatives, including its classic and organic blend, alongside its wildly popular Oatly Barista.

The company has seen tremendous success in 2021, being listed as one of the WEATHER the magazine’s 100 most influential brands in the world.

Although he’s made a few controversial decisions over the past few years, it seems people just can’t resist the smoothness that Oatly Barista can add to a cup of tea or coffee.

With a UK factory due to open in 2023, Oatly should increase its legion of loyal fans.

Highly recommended: ALPRO

Alpro no milk

Alpro has a long history of offering tasty and reliable dairy milk alternatives, with soy, hazelnut and coconut among its range, so it’s clear to see why it’s such a popular choice with VFL readers.

Its new Not MLK oat milks, launching in 2021, are a must-have for those looking for a dairy-like option.
